Here’s to VSpicery’s 16th Anniversary, the New Year and a dinner full of love.

We hope the holidays were fabulous for you and your family. There was an astounding array of delicious flavors floating through our home, highlighted by my talented daughter’s beautiful creation – a sumptuous Buche de Noel (or Yule Log Cake).

We look forward to 2019 being a year of developing more flavor combinations and searching out new flavors to add to our collection so that you can add them to your pantry. We currently have about 35 of our own spice blends and rubs, 11 curries (Indian, African and Thai), and over 5 seasoned salt blends that we hand mix at our shop every week. In addition, we have over 150 different individual spices, Greek, Spanish and Italian Extra Virgin Olive Oils, delicious high quality vinegars, flavored mustards and locally harvested honey from Eden’s Nectar. We are committed to sourcing the freshest spices we can find, and bringing high quality herbs and spices to you without chemicals, preservatives or additives.

At VSpicery we are kicking up our heels and sending out many thanks. VSpicery will be celebrating the 16th year of providing our customers with great spices, seasonings, blends, and other delightful flavors to incorporate in their everyday cooking.

We started our business at a farmers’ market back in 2001 and after two years decided to take our business to the next step, opening our brick and mortar location. The doors opened on January 23rd and we have been at the same location ever since, right next to Alessi Bakery. Lots of great stories have been created and shared here. We have had celebrity chefs, local chefs, local football players, restaurateurs, gourmet cooks, and most importantly, our folks who just love to cook. They recognize the difference our spices and seasonings make on their plates.

To celebrate our anniversary on January 23rd, we are offering 20% off your total purchase from January 23rd – January 26th (excluding Eden’s Nectar products).

The 10th customer through the door on January 23rd will receive a bottle of something very special. We look forward to many more years of supplying the very best in seasonings for your kitchen.


With February just around the corner, we all know what that means – Valentine’s Day. Oh, the pressure! The flowers, the candy, the reservations, and on and on… Well, we would like to take some of the stress off by offering a COOK FOR YOUR LOVE CLASS.

The Cook For Your Love Class will be a full dinner featuring a light appetizer, salad, two different entrees (beef & salmon) so that you can have a choice of what you would like to prepare, and accompanying sides. With Spicy Kym in the house, perhaps we’ll feature a delightful dessert as well.

Class is on February 9th starting at 4:00pm. Seating is limited to 8 individuals. Cost is $40.00 per person, so bring your appetite because this will be a full dining experience and lesson in food love. This class is by reservation only, please reserve your spot by February 5th by calling (813) 870-1133.

Hello summer, our old friend!

That means Father’s Day is just around the corner. If your husband, dad or granddad is a grill master, he might appreciate a new flavor or two. That’s where VSpicery’s blends come in. VSpicery has a little something for just about anything you would want to throw on the grill, but will also work beautifully for inside cooking.

If you are grilling up hamburgers or hotdogs, you gotta try one of our splendid mustards. We offer Chipotle Honey Lime, Sweet Fire Ale, Smoky Onion Garlic, and our signature Roasted Garlic Champagne. Besides being the consummate condiment, these mustards can be used for salad dressings or marinades. Several customers have even taken a whole pork loin and coated it with Chipotle Honey Lime mustard, sealed it in a Ziploc bag and refrigerated it for a couple of days. It was then grilled it to porkfection.

You can toss potatoes with the Roasted Garlic Champagne mustard and roast them in the oven. Mix the Roasted Garlic Champagne mustard with tarragon vinegar and diced shallots for a delicious dressing on steamed green beans. We could go on and on, but you are the best guide for your own culinary adventure.

Something as simple and inexpensive as elevating salt and pepper can make a huge difference. We have a nice variety of various sea salts and peppercorns. Elevate your black pepper with our exclusive Lampong Peppercorn. Spicy, sharp with a pleasant heat level, it is truly a better black pepper.

Here’s what’s new at VSpicery:

VSpicery is launching our latest culinary blend this month! A delightful mixture of sea salt, herbs, garlic, smoky paprika, and other delicious spices, this new blend is fabulous on chicken and seafood. After much thought, we have christened it Fin & Feather Schmacker. Once you give it a try, you will be schmacking your lips from all that flavor!

A Black Olive Tapenade and a Green Olive Tapenade are new to our shelves, both bursting with flavor. The Black Olive really brightens up a regular tuna sandwich. Build a better sandwich with your favorite bread, tuna topped with your choice of tapenade, a touch of mayo, and crispy lettuce. Mix the Green Olive with sun dried tomatoes and olive oil and serve over pasta with freshly grated Romano cheese. Both are lovely additions to cheese and charcuterie boards.

30 Days of Flavor: 03/17/11 – Mustard

We will be discussing flavors this month in our “30 Days of Flavor” blog series. Every day this month, VSpicery will select a spice, seasoning, salt, etc., as the flavor of the day, giving you it’s history, flavor profile, and uses. We hope you enjoy these flavors and their unique stories.

There are so many things that you can do with mustard, besides using it as a condiment on sandwiches, burgers, and hot dogs, and VSpicery has three very different and delicious varieties for you. Mustard was used for medicinal purposes before it’s culinary popularity began. As early as the sixth century BC, Pythagoras used it to remedy scorpion stings, and Hippocrates also used it for many other medicinal applications. Early Romans began grinding mustard seeds, mixing them with wine for a paste that was similar to modern prepared mustards. Jeremiah Colman, who was the mustard-maker to Queen Victoria in England, perfected the process of grinding mustard seeds without heat to preserve the oil of the seed where all the flavor lies.

Must_TanHab2VSpicery’s most popular flavor is Tangerine Habanero Mustard. Don’t let the “habanero” scare you, though. It only provides a depth to the flavor of the mustard, and does not impart any heat. The tangerine flavor is prevalent, and an amazing compliment to the mustard flavor. Tangerine Habanero Mustard is awesome on hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches, bratwurst, and most other sausages. We even dip our french fries in it, instead of ketchup! Also wonderful as part of a marinade or glaze for chicken, pork, or fish. For a tasty pork loin or chicken, season the meat with a little salt and pepper, then smear all over with Tangerine Habanero Mustard and cook as usual. The tangerine really compliments the flavor of these meats and fish.

Mojo is a traditional Latin marinade that has been used for many years, originating in the Canary Islands. This sauce has many variations of ingredients, but the primary flavors come from olive oil, lots of garlic, paprika and cumin. Cuban Mojo is a specific flavor consisting of garlic, olive oil, and citrus juice (traditionally sour oranges, but can be orange, lemon or lime juice), used as a marinade for roast pork. VSpicery’s Cuban Mojo Mustard really captures this flavor. It is a very strong mustard, imparts lots of flavor, and can be used on sandwiches, wraps, or as a basting sauce or glaze for pork and chicken.

Must_ChipLimeOur third type is Chipotle Honey Lime Mustard, and if you are looking for some heat kick, this is the mustard for you. It starts with a nice sweet flavor that is quickly followed by a nice burning heat, which is not overpowering to palates or food. Just brush on chicken breasts for a great flavor, and when cooking is complete drizzle a little honey over the top just before serving. Also works well on pork, shrimp, and as a condiment for sandwiches, burgers, and veggie mixtures like eggplant componata.

The fourth and final mustard variety that we carry is a Jamaican Jerk Mustard. It packs big flavor with a little heat that is wonderful with chicken, pork, and fish. We use it as a spread for sandwiches, burgers, and wraps frequently. Use it to baste chicken while baking for a nice Jerk flavor or as a marinade for grilled or broiled shrimp or shellfish. This mustard will give you the taste of Jamaica and quickly become a family favorite.
